However, I did just completely switch over to Vista. Finally. I have had Vista for over a year now and I did have it installed on an older smaller hard drive. Every once in a while I would start it up and use it, but it wasn't the main OS. The other day I was doing some work and accidentally deleted some important files and I lost about 6 months worth of data that now has to be reentered. Luckily it was only 6 months and not 2 1/2 years like I originally feared. I was able to recover all but 6 months, but that was because the last time I did a backup was 6 months ago.
In the recovery process, I decided to bite the bullet and completely upgrade to Vista. So after several hours and several days later, Vista is up and running. Not that I notice a whole lot of difference from XP other than it's a little slower (not much, but noticeable) and doesn't like multi-tasking as well as XP did (why is that???). I am getting used to it and it does have some features that are going to be nice in the long run like the picture gallery.
Most of my programs that I had on XP are working on Vista although some have required a patch or two and all my peripherals have worked without a hitch. Sound, video and printer have all gone in without hiccup. I guess they got that driver thing down. All the manufacturer sites had the drivers in a ready to go, easy to find package.
